Kat Dennings, born Katherine Victoria Litwack on the 13th of June, 1986 in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania was the firstborn child of Gerald and Ellen Dennings. Ellen Dennings was her mom. Ellen worked as a poetry and speech therapy therapist. Gerald Dennings works as a molecular druggist as well as a professor at a university. Dennings is the youngest of five children who was raised in a family that was all Jewish. Dennings was educated at home and only short time in traditional school. As she began acting at the age of nine, she discovered that homeschooling was the ideal option. As early as nine years old, she started performing in commercials for television. Her family moved to Los Angeles after she graduated high school in order for her to study acting. The actress began her auditions under the name Kat Dennings.
